SCOTTISH INDEPENDENCE: The Scottish public voted in favour of staying in the United Kingdom after the No campaign earned a comfortable victory in the independence referendum.

Voter turnout reached 84 per cent and the ‘silent majority’ had their say as the 55 per cent majority No vote was a higher margin than predicted by the majority of opinion polls.
