David Cameron visited Scotland yesterday ahead of the referendum on Scottish independence.

The prime minister has so far kept a low-profile role in the debate, aware he and his Conservative party have limited appeal this side of the border.

Meanwhile, a poll found that the thought of Alex Salmond being the first prime minister of an independent Scotland would make more than a third of Scots more likely to vote No in the referendum.
