Four men have been arrested and charged in connection with alleged fraudulent ticket sales at the Open golf championship at Muirfield.

The men are aged 46, 34, 52 and 42 and are all from England, police said.

They have been remanded in custody and are due to appear at Haddington Sheriff Court on Monday.

Police have reminded the public that tickets for the golfing event in East Lothian must be purchased from official outlets.

Tickets that have not been sourced through either the R&A or Ticketmaster will not be accepted.

Police officers, along with wardens from East Lothian Council, have increased their patrols around Muirfield and in Gullane this weekend to identify people trying to sell tickets.
