The Salmon & Trout Association Scotland says that it takes 13 sea lice to kill a sea trout but it fails to mention that one angler can do the job more effectively.
Last year, anglers killed 6,410 adult sea trout with an average weight of about 1.2kg each.
Juvenile sea trout succumb naturally to a whole host of diseases, parasites and predators which is why adults lay so many eggs. This happens whether the fish are in the vicinity of a salmon farm or hundreds of miles from one.
The S&TA is simply looking for any excuse to attack the salmon farming industry rather than allow their own practices to be more closely scrutinised.
