Ten Questions: Stephanie Taylor
STEPHANIE TAYLOR, 37, lives in the West End and is founder of the Sunday Brunch Club.
What is your earliest memory of Edinburgh? I remember walking across the Meadows in May 2000. We basked in glorious sunshine and the views to Arthur's Seat were breathtaking. I thought the rumours that Edinburgh was grey and cold were ridiculous. In the bitterly cold winter of that year I learned there was an element of truth in them.
What are your memories of school? My memories of Perry Beeches School in Birmingham are filled with visions of old-fashioned desks with inkwells, the gaudy yellow and green uniform and our legendary trip to Paris.
Where is your favourite place in Edinburgh and why? I love the Pentland Hills because of the incredible views and exhilarating feeling when I'm there.
What are the best things about Edinburgh? It's a beautiful city – small enough to walk around and big enough to offer a range of things to do.
What would you change about the city? The weather.
Describe a perfect Edinburgh day/night out. We'd wake a little late, enjoy breakfast at Sygn and a walk along the Water of Leith to Stockbridge. We'd play tennis in the afternoon, read the papers then have dinner at Dusit Thai before walking home on one of those rare balmy summer evenings.
Which sports interest you? I play badminton and tennis every week with Sunday Brunch Club Sports, but I'm interested in watching most sports.
What was your most embarrassing moment? There was the time I hurriedly put on leggings for the gym in semi-darkness only to find I was wearing my son's Thomas the Tank Engine pyjama bottoms when I arrived.
What is your greatest achievement? It has to be developing the Sunday Brunch Club into one of Edinburgh's leading social networking groups within two years. We organise a variety of sports and outdoor and social activities that have proved popular with busy professionals. On 23 July we are hosting Sparkle in the City at Le Monde – a fabulous evening of mingling, networking, pampering and shopping.
