Ten Questions: Kirstie Armsworth
Kirstie Armsworth, 38, from Balerno, is a personal stylist
What is your earliest memory of Edinburgh? At the age of eight I came to the Tattoo with my local Brownie troop. It was cold and wet, but we loved it. Brownie brown is still one of my good colours.
What are your memories of school? I attended Berwickshire High School in the Borders and spent a lot of time learning how to adapt a school uniform into something more fashionable.
Where is your favourite place in Edinburgh and why? The Pentland Hills. I live in Balerno and can escape in minutes out of the city. Fresh air, open spaces and lots of fantastic views.
What are the best things about Edinburgh? Edinburgh has everything you need on your doorstep. Places of interest, fine eateries and buzzing bars. There's also a good mix of outlets which cover every taste.
What would you change about the city? Get more colour onto our streets by stopping people wearing black when there is so much more we can all do with our wardrobes. As Scotland's capital, we should make more of an effort to showcase how stylish we are as a nation.
Describe a perfect Edinburgh day/night out? A girlie afternoon on George Street – a spot of shopping and lunch followed by fun evening with plenty of fizz and chat – is a favourite of mine.
Which sports interest you? I took up running three years ago. After an awkward start I can now boast to have completed the Edinburgh Half Marathon.
What was your most embarrassing moment? It's more a phase than a moment. Late-teen fashion faux-pas involving white leggings, pink blouses, off the hip wide belts and permed hair – definitely not my style.
What is your greatest achievement? Without a doubt my family.
Sum up Edinburgh in three words? Stylish and colourful.
