Ten Questions: Janis Evelyn Davidson
Janis Evelyn Davidson, 28, from Gilmerton, is creative director of Sesh hairdressing in Bernard Street
What is your earliest memory of Edinburgh? I was about five and I remember getting the bus one weekend with my Mum and Gran to Princes Street. We went to Princes Street Gardens and listened for the One O'clock Gun. From there we went to the Museum of Childhood, walked down the Royal Mile and Gran told me stories from her childhood in Edinburgh.
What are your memories of school I went to Gracemount primary and secondary school – I enjoyed school, actually. In second year, I got the part of Fannie Squeers in Smike the Musical and I had to do a duet with my friend Stephen. I couldn't sing a note and I remember Mum crying in the audience.
Where is your favourite place in Edinburgh and why? It would have to be Craigmillar Castle where I got married last August. It's got so much character.
What are the best things about Edinburgh? I love the way the old is fused with the new. While I love going away on holiday, Edinburgh is the one place I always look forward returning to.
What would you change about the city? At the moment, it would have to be the trams. I just don't see the need for them.
Describe a perfect Edinburgh day/night out It would be a lazy lunch along The Shore followed by drinks in the Ocean Terminal Bar. In the evening I'd get dressed up and head out to a club for a night of cheesy music and dancing.
Which sports interest you? I wasn't a sporty person until I met my husband, Craig. He is a really good golfer and I like to support him in all he does. But I draw the line at football.
What was your most embarrassing moment? The first proper date I went on with Craig was to the cinema to see Dawn of the Dead. We were standing in the queue to get in and Craig was cracking jokes. I laughed so hard that my chewing gum flew out of my mouth and into this woman's hair.
What is your proudest achievement? It has to be giving birth to my son, followed by getting into the regional finals of the Loreal Colour Trophy & Wella Trend Vision.
