Ten Questions: Iain MacPhail

34, from Broughton, is the accordion/bass player with celtic-house act A Whisky Kiss

1 What is your earliest memory of Edinburgh? Although I'm Edinburgh born and bred, my parents' families came from the West Highlands and southern Italy. My earliest memory is of the swing-park in Currie.

2 What are your memories of school? I went to Riccarton Primary in Currie. I captained "Riccy's" football team and we always beat Curriehill in the Derby. It really mattered!

3 Where is your favourite place in Edinburgh and why? Aside from Easter Road, it's Stockbridge because it's like Edinburgh in miniature . . . quirky, stylish with something for all ages.

4 What are the best things about Edinburgh? The architecture is phenomenal, plus you can walk everywhere and I love the special character that comes from being a small city that's also the capital.

5 What would you change about the city? Sports facilities - they're better in Europe and the States, so could be better here too.

6 Describe a perfect Edinburgh day/night out. For the perfect night out I'd recommend the 21st Century Ceilidh at the Assembly Rooms on Saturday, 11 July. Our band and DJ will be playing. It offers ceilidh dancing but the DJ mashes house hits and funk classics into the live ceilidh music. You get Billie Jean Verses the Eightsome Reel and so on. Last year the drummer played with Lou Reed, and Amira our fiddler played with Smokey Robinson. It's a great standard and we make it pretty funky. Best of all, it's in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust, so visit www.sundaybrunchclub.co.uk now for tickets.

7 Which sports interest you? All sports but mainly football and a spot of golf.

8 What was your most embarrassing moment? At the birth of my daughter Evie, I was so overcome that when my wife asked "what is it, what is it?" I could only shout "it's a baby, it's a baby!" A real Del Boy moment! Thankfully the midwife said "congratulations you've had a daughter."

9 What is your greatest achievement? We've had a great year with the band, appearing at Edinburgh's Hogmanay, New York Scotland Week, Hampden for the Cup Final.

10 Sum up Edinburgh in three words. Capital of Scotland.
