Ten Questions: Laura MacDonald of VisitScotland
Laura MacDonald, 21, is a marketing assistant with VisitScotland. She lives in Morningside
What is your earliest memory of Edinburgh? Getting the train over from Fife for the day and going to Edinburgh Zoo to see the monkeys – something I still love to do today.
What are your memories of school? The best memories I have of Queen Anne High School in Dunfermline are the first few days where I met my fantastic friends, the great PE sessions beating the boys at basketball and two trips I had to visit London and some MPs.
Where is your favourite place in Edinburgh and why? Anywhere during the festival. I love just walking round and taking in the atmosphere and sights, seeing a few shows, having a fantastic lunch and going for a cocktail.
What are the best things about Edinburgh? The range of things you can do. One minute you can be on your bike cycling the hills and walking the Pentlands, then walking the shops, having a cocktail on George Street or a hot chocolate in a cosy coffee shop, having a luxurious dinner and seeing a show!
What would you change about the city? I would like the people in Edinburgh to be more aware of what is on their doorstep. There really is so much to do.
Describe a perfect Edinburgh day/night out. I would have an early rise and breakfast in Montpeliers with a book, shoot out to the EICA for a morning of rock climbing/aerial assault course, back into town for a quick bite to eat in one of many fantastic bistros, hit the comedy club for an afternoon show, zip round some of the little boutiques and head out for a cocktail or two. Not before a quick pamper, maybe a facial or manicure.
Which sports interest you? I love running, a great way to clear the mind after a day's work. I also love rock climbing.
What was your most embarrassing moment? This would probably have to be fainting during a piano recital and waking up drinking juice.
What is your greatest achievement? Probably the work we (the team at VisitScotland) have achieved on the Adventure Pass. The team have pulled together a great range of offers and discounts off activities in Scotland.
Sum up Edinburgh in three words. Fun, diverse, exciting.
