Ten Questions: Graham Crammond

GRAHAM CRAMMOND, 47, is an actor in Sleeping Beauty at the Brunton Theatre. He lives in Newington.

1 What is your earliest memory of Edinburgh? I remember going to Edinburgh Zoo on the bus and fighting to get to the back seat so we could make faces at the cars behind.

2 What are your memories of school? My primary school was called Reform Street School in Kirriemuir, much to the confusion of my pen pals who thought I was at a school for delinquents!

3 Where is your favourite place in Edinburgh and why? I used to live in Comely Bank and loved visiting all the interesting shops.

4 What are the best things about Edinburgh? Its location. You can't help being wowed by the beauty of it. What other city centre can you escape from to the country in a few minutes?

5 What would you change about the city? I would like to introduce pedestrian walking licences. It's getting impossible to walk anywhere with street furniture and bus queues.

6 Describe a perfect Edinburgh day/night out. A wander up the Crags or the Pentland Hills, or a day digging the garden, followed by a picnic with friends, then a wee drink of real ale in the Regent Bar. Then a spoil-yourself bath, and getting all poshed-up to go to the Festival Theatre for ballet or opera. Then finishing at the Whisky Centre for dinner and a dram.

7 Which sports interest you? I must confess I don't play much sport, but do a bit of badminton and pool.

8 What was your most embarrassing moment? When I worked in a department store in the cosmetic and tights department I was hanging up sale signs from the light fittings with different sized hooks. As I climbed the ladder unknown to me one of the hooks had caught a lady's skirt revealing her bottom and as she walked away with her new tights I came crashing down shredding her tights and her skirt. She got her clothes replaced and I got a reprimand.

9 What is your greatest achievement? I did manage to save a mate's life when I was about ten. He had stupidly set himself on fire and I punched him to the ground and rolled him in an old carpet. He never spoke to me again.
