Teens in court over high–rise flats fire
Two teenagers have appeared in court in connection with a blaze at a high-rise block of flats.
Emergency services spent about four hours evacuating properties in Wyndford Road, in the Maryhill area of Glasgow, when the fire broke out at about 2:40am on Tuesday. A man had to be rescued from a balcony on the 14th floor and three people were checked by ambulance crews at the scene.
Thamil Lahouaoui, 19, was charged with wilful fire-raising and culpable and reckless conduct. His co-accused, 19-year-old Nabil Chakir, was also charged with culpable and reckless conduct when the pair appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court yesterday.
Both men, who have no fixed abode, made no plea or declaration and were remanded in custody.
