Teenagers get death warning

UNEMPLOYED teenagers who are out of education could have a one in six chance of dying within ten years, a top civil servant has claimed.

Youngsters who were "Neet" – not in education, employment or training – faced not just difficulties and hardship, but "real dangers and a downward spiral" which could lead to them dying "very, very young", said Jon Coles, the director-general of schools at the Department for Children, Schools and Families.

Mr Coles cited anecdotal research carried out in a city in the north of England he had recently visited.
