Teenager dies after falling from swimming pool roof

A TEENAGER died yesterday after falling from the roof of a swimming pool.

The 18-year-old man plunged from the roof after clambering on to the building shortly after midnight.

It is thought he smashed through a skylight and fell inside, landing in the caf area of Girvan swimming pool in Ayrshire.

Emergency services were called out after the accident, which local people said happened between 12:30am and 1am. They were unable to save the teenager's life and he died at the scene.

A Strathclyde Police spokeswoman said: "We can confirm that an 18-year-old has died after falling from a roof at Girvan swimming pool.

"Investigations are under way to find out what happened, but it is not believed to be suspicious."
