Teenager arrested over power drill attack on man
A TEENAGER has been arrested after a man was allegedly assaulted with a power drill.
The 26-year-old victim, named in press reports as James Hanlon, was attacked in Stepps, North Lanarkshire, on August 22.
Two cars slammed into his vehicle and he was then attacked by a group of men in Cumbernauld Road.
He was treated in hospital for head injuries and later released.
Strathclyde Police are investigating a similar attack on Mr Hanlon's twin brother Bryan a week later.
Mr Hanlon was making his way along Maryhill Road on Sunday night when his car was forced off the road by two vehicles.
Armed men then got out of the cars and attacked him.
The twins are said to have been friends of Kevin Carroll who was shot dead in January this year and had known links to organised crime.
A police statement said: "A 19-year-old man has been arrested and is presently detained in police custody in connection with the alleged serious assault on a 26 year-old man in Cumbernauld Road, Stepps on Sunday August 22.
"A full report will be sent to the procurator fiscal."
The man is expected to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court on Monday.
