Teenage bone marrow donation campaigner wins award
A 16-YEAR-OLD girl who convinced 40,000 people in the UK to become bone marrow donors was recognised at last night’s Pride of Britain Awards.
Alice Pyne, from Cumbria, received the teenager of courage award for her campaign work stemming from an online blog.
The teenager was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma when she was 12. She completed her “bucket list” earlier this year, with one wish leading to the mass sign-up of British bone marrow donors.
She has also set up a charity called Alice’s Escapes which provides holidays to the Lake District for families with seriously ill children.
