Talent search appeal to raise cancer victim funds
ORGANISERS of a talent contest to raise money for Adam Robertson are appealing for more acts to come forward.
Five-year-old Adam is living with an incurable brain cancer and the money raised at Saturday's event will help fund activity days for the youngster.
The youngster was diagnosed in April and the condition, pontine glioma, is rare and affects only 40 children a year in the UK.
Adam's parents Lynn and Scott, of Craigentinny, intend to ensure the next six months of the youngster's life are filled with fun and among their plans is a trip to Disneyland Paris.
The event, called Ocean's Got Talent, boasts a top prize of 200 and will take place at the Oceana bar on Ferry Road, Edinburgh, from 7.30pm.
It has been organised by family friend and pub manager Madge Turnbull and among the judges will be Val and Bill Simpson, founders of the Leith-based children's cancer charity CCLASP. Adam will cut the ribbon at CCLASP's new holiday cottage in Perthshire next week.
Ms Turnbull, 47, of Granton, said: "I really wanted to do something to help."
Tickets cost 1 on the door. To take part, call Ms Turnbull on 0131-553 3009.
