Taleban confirm leader's death
THE Pakistani Taleban acknowledged yesterday that their leader, Baitullah Mehsud, was dead, ending weeks of claims and counterclaims after a US missile strike on his father-in-law's home this month.
Aides Hakimullah Mehsud and Waliur Rehman, told international media last night that he had died on Sunday of wounds from the 5 August strike near the Afghan border.
