Tactical voting

Have your say

Brian Wilson (Perspective, 27 February) would do better to address the real issue of an electoral system that means that the preference of many voters will be ignored when a party with a 30-35 per cent minority vote and even as little as 20-25 per cent minority support of the electorate can ignore the majority of the population.

He shouldn’t be surprised if voters resort to tactical voting.

Surely, it’s time to reform the electoral system and introduce real proportional representation to encourage government that reflects a wide range of political views.
