T in the Park: Sun and Saltires, humour and floral wellies – this festival has it all
THE weather was merciful in the end. Sunday was overcast but remained dry – much like the dispositions of the mainly Glaswegian audience. Well, let's face it, T in the Park is not an Edinburgh event. It belongs to the west of Scotland.
In the crowd, there were many flag-wavers bearing Saltires, while floral wellies were the order of the day on Sunday, worn by males as well as females.
In the Slam Tent it was all about the beat, and by the time Justice hit the stage, security guards had their hands full – but it was all about good humour too.
Elsewhere, Aussie drum and bass metal band Pendulum had thousands of fans crammed into King Tut's Wah Wah Hut.
With the sun shining outside, the temperature was soaring inside the tent.
The searing heat caused several fans in the front row to pass out and be treated by first aiders.
Over on the NME stage another of Australia's other favourite sons, Powderfinger, played a remarkable set before the Goo Goo Dolls amped up the audience. By the time the Prodigy took the stage it was as though the rest of the festival did not exist.
The buses back to Edinburgh were an event in themselves.
