T in the Park review: Lily Allen, Radio 1 NME stage, 6.40pm

Lily Allen refused to let sound problems mar her set at as the pop starlet drew possibly the largest crowd of the weekend to the BBC Radio 1 NME stage on Sunday evening.

The sea of faces and flags stretched so far into the distance that those at the back struggled to hear the singer, as the appreciative audience proved too loud for the stage's struggling sound system.

Even with the PA failing to match the roar of the crowd, Allen had no trouble commanding the stage as she performed an extensive set of firm fan favourites.

Compared to fellow divas Lady Gaga and Katy Perry, who performed on Saturday, she seemed almost overdressed for the occasion.

Allen took to the stage wrapped in a transparent black shawl, gradually revealing herself as the show progressed.

A down-tempo cover of the Kaiser Chief's 'Oh My God' proved an early surprise and was received warmly by the surging audience.

Allen was relaxed throughout, taking the time to grab a quick drink and cigarette while chatting away to the crowd.

'F**k You Very Much' was dedicated to homophobes, racists and sexists, the singer's contempt echoed in a resounding cheer from the Balado masses.

Allen closed with an epic 'Not Fair', the radio friendly cut jettisoned in favour of an extended version, running to over seven minutes.

But as she walked off the stage, only one question remained: why was Lily Allen not on the main stage?

Even with technical difficulties, the singer certainly had no trouble making T in the Park scream
