Swine flu risk groups set for vaccination
SWINE flu vaccinations for at-risk groups will be available from as early as next week in the Lothians.
Health chiefs announced that around 150,000 people in the area will be contacted by their GP.
Among those are pregnant women, and health secretary Nicola Sturgeon said the recent death of a young mum-to-be in the Borders highlighted the need for them to be cautious.
She said: "I would urge all pregnant women to get vaccinated to ensure the maximum protection for themselves and their babies.
"While there is no evidence to suggest that the virus is becoming any more dangerous for the public at large, this tragic death highlights that some groups are at greater risk and should take up the offer of vaccination."
The treatment, which will largely be administered in single doses, is available from 21 October.
