Swine flu cases in Lothians drop as vaccine nears
LEVELS of swine flu in the Lothians are continuing to drop, the latest government figures have shown.
In her weekly update, health minister Nicola Sturgeon revealed that around 250 people had reported to their GP last week with flu-like symptoms.
However, she said very few of these would have been cases of the H1N1 virus.
The Scottish Government also announced priority groups for the swine flu vaccine. They are at-risk groups, such as people with asthma or other respiratory or severe illnesses, pregnant women and people with weak immune systems and those they live with.
Frontline health and social care workers will also receive the vaccination. It is hoped the programme will begin in autumn.
