Susan Boyle may skip tour shows

BRITAIN'S Got Talent star Susan Boyle was at the centre of another cliffhanger last night – over whether she would join a UK tour of the show.

The singer, from Blackburn, West Lothian, was not thought to have joined rehearsals for the nationwide tour, which opens in Birmingham tonight.

Asked whether Boyle would be performing, a spokesperson for Britain's Got Talent said: "We don't know for sure either way."

She was reported to be staying yesterday in a luxury London flat rented for her by the show's producer, Simon Cowell.

The singer, 48, was watched by more than 17 million people in the final of the show as she sang I Dreamed a Dream from the musical Les Miserables. But, after reports that she was struggling to cope with her new-found fame, she seemed to lose some composure and lost out to dance group Diversity.

After the show she was admitted to the Priory clinic in London to be treated for exhaustion.

Her performance on Britain's Got Talent has already seen sales soar for the current run of the musical based on Victor Hugo's novel in London's West End.

And Boyle's version of I Dreamed a Dream has attracted more hits than any other YouTube clip.

Boyle – who has lived alone with her cat Pebbles since the death of her mother two years ago – has reportedly received an invitation from the White House to sing at a 4 July celebration. The invitation is the second from the Obamas after she was asked to attend a dinner in May.

The Britain's Got Talent tour comes to Glasgow on 15 June, Edinburgh on 16 June and Aberdeen on 23 June. The Edinburgh show is already sold out. It is thought Boyle could choose to skip some of the concerts.

The 23-date tour is headlined by Diversity and includes saxophonist Julian Smith, young singer Shaheen Jafargholi, breakdancer Aidan Davis, and father and son dance duo Stavros Flatley, plus ten-year-old singer Hollie Steel, singing rugby player Shaun Smith and dance group Flawless.
