Surprise choice by Obama for CIA job

BARACK Obama, the US president-elect, has chosen a former Clinton chief of staff, Leon Panetta, to run the CIA. Mr Panetta was a surprise choice, having no experience in the intelligence world.

The veteran congressman from California served on the Iraq Study Group, which recommended a change of course in the Iraq war.
