Police are hunting for a man who tried to rob a shop wearing an Iron Man mask.

The man stormed into Roslin Stores on Aberdeen’s Urquhart Road with his face covered up on Tuesday night.

But the would-be thief, who was carrying a weapon, fled the scene empty-handed.

Police said a 44-year-old man was unhurt but shaken by the attempted robbery which happened at about 7:20pm.

Detective Sergeant Martyn Thomson, who is investigating the incident, said: “The man responsible has been described as approximately 5’10” in height and slim build.

“He was wearing a superhero mask, a two tone light and dark blue hooded top, dark jeans and black trainers with distinctive white soles. He presented a weapon before fleeing the shop towards the city centre.

“We are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and has any information to come forward.”

Police refused to reveal details of the items the man tried to steal.
