Sun shines but Scotland feels the chill

MUCH of Scotland enjoyed sunny skies yesterday as the Easter Bank Holiday came to an end, but temperatures were markedly lower than Good Friday when Prestwick saw sizzling temperatures of 23.5C.

Peter Sloss, a forecaster at the Met Office in Aberdeen, said yesterday: "Today was one of the coldest of the Easter weekend with an 18C high at Strathaven near Perth."

It was a cooler picture elsewhere in the country as many saw their weekend capped with falling temperatures.

Edinburgh saw temperatures of up to 15C - a picture that was broadly repeated across Scotland. In Aberdeen, it was even cooler at 14C.

Today is likely to be chillier still. Edinburgh looks set to see highs of 12C, with Glasgow enjoying slightly higher temperatures of 14C.

In Inverness, it is unlikely temperatures will reach any higher than 12C and in Aberdeen it is expected to be around 10C.
