Suits you, sir – for £70,000
THE recession appears to have bypassed one mystery fashion lover – who is to buy the world's most expensive suit tonight.
The 70,000 one-off creation will be delivered to a private buyer at a party in London.
It has taken more than 80 hours and 5,000 stitches to make the suit, which is equivalent to 14 per stitch.
Materials used include vicua, from a rare wild South American llama-like animal which only produces enough wool to shear every three years. Another is qiviuk, the world's dearest wool, from the Arctic muskox.
When blended with pashmina from the high plateaus of the Himalayas, the fibres create Vanquish II, one of the world's most luxurious fabrics.
Nine 18-carat gold and diamond buttons provide the finishing touch. Alexander Amosu, who designed the suit, said it was "the ultimate in luxury".
