Study targets older addicts
A NEW study into older drug users is to be carried out in the Capital.
It is aimed at improving care for a group of people whose numbers are expected to double in Europe by 2020. The study will also look at users aged over 35 in Glasgow and other major European cities.
The 30-month study will be co-ordinated by the Institute of Addiction Research and the University of Applied Sciences in Frankfurt and will look at how Scotland, Germany, Austria and Poland deliver community-based and residential care for older people taking drugs.
Funded by the EU, Scotland is represented on the steering group by the Scottish Drugs Forum.
