Students take part in debate at parliament
PUPILS from Leith Academy and West Calder High School were today taking part in a debate at the Scottish Parliament on flooding emergencies and green issues.
They were among more than 100 high school students from around Scotland who met committee members and witnesses to discuss a range of environmental matters at a one-day event.
The event, entitled Our Environment Our Future, also featured a presentation from eco-school Portobello High and a display by Currie Community High.
Deputy Presiding Officer Trish Godman, who was chairing the event, said: "This is an opportunity for young people across Scotland to voice their views, and crucially they will engage with our Committees to learn how to use that voice to influence policy."
