Students launch charity appeal

THE Duchess of Rothesay paid tribute to the "sensational" work done by young people who launched the DecAid charity appeal in Edinburgh yesterday.

The organisation was set up by university students to allow more young people to show their support for the military after ten years in Afghanistan.

Yesterday's events in Holyrood Park were organised by volunteers under 25 - symbolic of the young troops that have died in Afghanistan.

James Fish, a spokesperson for the organisation, said: "We recognise that there are lots of forces charities out there, but perhaps the youth of today could do a little bit more.

"We want to try and encourage young people to get involved and support our forces."

Rupert Laing, 24, who helped set up the charity, said: "Half of the forces who have lost their lives over the last ten years in Afghanistan have been aged 18-25 and we have a team of under-25s who want to support the armed forces this summer."
