A BODY found in Ross-shire has been officially identified as missing former Napier Univesity student David Mackay, who disappeared after a rugby club dance.

David Mackay, 21, from Alness, had gone missing from outside a leisure and recreation centre in Tain early on Saturday. His body was discovered near the trunk road, north of Glenmorangie, at about 2.30pm on Sunday.

Hundreds of residents joined police, coastguards and personnel from RAF and Dundonnel mountain rescue teams to look for Mr Mackay. The death is being treated as unexplained and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
