Strip joint to expose city students' art

A STRIP joint is among a range of local businesses set to be taken over by the work of up-and-coming young artists.

Shop fronts in the city's West Port and Grassmarket are to display the designs of students at Edinburgh College of Art as part of an upcoming exhibition.

Launching on Friday, 25 September, Art Walk will feature work by more than 30 artists, exhibiting in shop windows all the way from the Western Bar on West Port to McDonald's Frames on Candlemaker Row. Some of the larger premises, including The Lot, Artrock Hostel and the Owl & Lion Gallery, will host small exhibitions of artworks by students.

The project follows the success of last year's inaugural Art Walk on West Port. This year it doubles its territory, as the local community marks the start of the new academic term.
