Stop snaring now
The Scottish Parliament will today discuss a petition to ban snaring which has been signed by an overwhelming 10,000 members of the public.
The Scottish Government turned its back on public opinion last year when it chose to regulate the use of snaring rather than banning it outright. Despite 75 per cent of people in Scotland believing snaring should be banned; a public consultation which was 2:1 in favour of making snaring illegal; and more than 7,000 representations to the government asking for a ban, it decided to retain their use, effectively condoning animals' suffering in this way.
Regulation of this cruelty is not an option. Snares must be made illegal.
