Still time to sign up for cancer event

PLACES are still available for a scenic 10km run due to take part in the Lothians next week.

The Cancer Research UK event at Hopetoun House in South Queensferry has already attracted 1,200 participants.

And organisers, who hope to raise 50,000, are hopeful of filling the couple of hundred other places still available for the run on 27 September.

Event manager Sara-Jane Rice said anyone could take part, regardless of their fitness or ability on the running track.

"Together they will help us create a fantastic atmosphere on the day and raise crucial funds to help beat cancer," she said.

"We don't want anyone to miss out so we are reminding people who want to take part that they must enter as soon as possible before registration closes.

"Although the distance might sound a challenge lots of people find they can achieve it with sensible training. Thanks to Cancer Research UK, survival rates have doubled over the last 30 years."

The deadline for entries is a week today. To enter visit www.run10k.org
