Step forward to give help to homeless
HOMELESSNESS charity Fresh Start is staging a sponsored walk later this month to raise funds for its work helping people settle into homes.
The eight-mile walk on Friday June 24 is planned to take two or three hours at a "leisurely pace".
Fresh Start was set up by churches in Edinburgh in 1999 and helps people make the transition from homelessness to a tenancy. It provides "starter packs" of essential equipment for a new home, ranging from cutlery to bedding, helps with decorating, runs a befriending service and offers training and employment opportunities.
The walk starts at 10am at Dean Parish Church, Dean Path and follows the Water of Leith Walkway to Colinton Dell, before returning into town along the canal path.
Further details are available at freshstart web.org.uk or 0131-476 7741.
