Squirrel nuts hat inventor
A PART-TIME inventor suffered whiplash when a squirrel landed on his head while he was road testing a bird-feeding hat.
Mike Madden, 48, was walking through woodland when a grey squirrel spied the nuts on the feeding tray on top of his headwear.
The squirrel leapt from the top of a tree and landed with such force that Mr Madden was knocked to the ground and injured his neck.
Mr Madden has been wearing a neck brace since the accident, which happened a week ago , near his home in Crackpot Cottage, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.
He designed the hat so birds could feed from it while he was out walking "I’ve always liked squirrels - but once you’ve had one land on your head travelling about 30mph you can go off them," he said.
