Sports agency starts its run-up for move to new Glasgow HQ
NATIONAL sports agency sportscotland will begin the move from Edinburgh to a new temporary headquarters in Glasgow later this year.
The agency will eventually be based at the new National Indoor Arena and Velodrome in Glasgow's East End, due for completion in 2009-10.
But in the meantime it will relocate from its current base at the Gyle to the Templeton Business Centre, not far from the arena.
Sportscotland will take over the new accommodation in November 2008 and after fitting it out, a phased transfer is expected to be completed by April 2009.
Sportscotland said the temporary location had the benefit of being close to the permanent headquarters and allowing staff to experience the area.
But a spokeswoman said it was not yet known how many of the 145 staff employed at the Gyle would decide to make the move.
