Spartans boys set sights on European goal
THE Spartans FC youth team has launched a fundraising drive to raise much-needed cash to take part in a European football tournament.
With the credit crunch affecting families across the city, the motivated ten and 11-year-olds have set out to raise the funds for their trip to the Trofeo Mediterraneo tournament in Spain next April themselves.
The youngsters will be in Asda's Leith store on Saturday between 11am and 5pm to pack bags for customers in a bid to boost their funds.
Spartans FC youth team secretary Stuart Lockhart said: "The team is really looking forward to the tournament next year and we are really grateful to Asda Leith for allowing the boys to come along and pack bags for customers.
"It's brilliant that Asda gets behind the community and hard working youngsters such as our footballers. It's going to be a great day for the whole team."
