OVER 1000 women have taken part in the first in a series of 5K runs to raise awareness of cancer.
Sunday’s Race for Life in South Queensferry was bigger than last year’s event, when 750 runners raised £71,000 for Cancer Research UK.
A further ten Race for Life events are being held around Scotland this year over to raise cash for vital life-saving research into the disease.
Hamish Moir, event manager for Race for Life in the Lothians and Fife, said: “The support we have received in South Queensferry is absolutely tremendous and we are thrilled that so many women have entered Race for Life.”
All the Race for Life 5K runs are for women only and intended for all ages and abilities.
