SNP aims remain

Have your say

Jim Fairlie (Letters, 10 April) questions whether what the SNP seeks is independence “as other independent countries know it”.

When I joined the SNP in 1950 the aims on the membership card were a) independence (defined at length), and b) the furtherance of all Scottish interests.

These aims remain, though the way they are expressed has developed. I look forward to renewed independence for Scotland with similar status to Finland and Denmark within the European Union, and Norway and New
Zealand outwith it.
