RUSH hour travellers faced problems this morning as snow returned to many areas of Scotland.
• Neighbours help a motorist on his way in snow-hit Denny, Stirlingshire
Several lorries were stranded on the M90 near Bridge of Earn as heavy snowfall and blustery winds made driving conditions difficult.
Traffic was brought to a temporary standstill on the A90 when a lorry jack-knifed and the Tay Road Bridge was closed to high sided vehicles this morning due to strong wind.
• A driver clears his car of snow
The snow was also reported to be causing problems for drivers on the A9 near Dunblane and the M80 near Denny.
Steve Ellison, of Meteogroup, the weather forecasting arm of the Press Association, said: "Temperatures are not that low for this time of the year at the moment. It is not that far below freezing, but snow is starting on the higher ground.
• Lenzie Golf Course under a blanket of snow
"The most significant thing is the snowfall to come. Rain, sleet and snow are to continue throughout the day.
"The Highlands, Cairngorms and areas north of the central belt are most affected at the moment, but there will also be snow over the southern uplands.
• Spring flowers
"It is fairly persistent and during the night, the snow level will start to come further down and it could be quite heavy.
"During Wednesday, it will start to turn to rain and move north."
