Slump won't hit city says estate agent
A LEADING property expert in the Capital has backed industry predictions that the housing market slump will not bite in Edinburgh.
Marjorie Townsend, head of Lindsays Residential, said she was confident the city and surrounding areas will remain "buoyant", despite wider concerns about a national slump.
The average price of a property in Edinburgh is now more than 215,000, and Ms Townsend said Lindsays was enjoying "brisk" sales on all types of properties, with competitive closing dates continuing to be common.
"Other than for statistical purposes there really is no such thing as a UK property market. There are at least 50 different markets, each with its own dynamic.
"We have every confidence that Edinburgh in particular remains a strong, buoyant market where demand far outstrips supply."
