Ski centre demands Holyrood cash
MIDLOTHIAN councillors have demanded that the Scottish Government do more to shore up the ailing Hillend ski centre, despite being offered a £600,000 investment package from its main sporting quango.
Council leader Derek Milligan said that the substantial investment is not enough to plug the funding gap.
He said: "We have to save at least 25 million over the next four years, so the council cannot simply keep subsidising the centre.
"We welcome the potential capital funding support from Sportscotland. However, even if an application is successful there is still a revenue funding gap. The future of the national centre should not be at a cost to the Midlothian taxpayer."
