Singing its praises from the rooftops
OLOROSO has been described by some as a classy, exclusive hotspot with an even classier clientele, which may make you want to run a mile at the thought of pretentious wannabes. However, take a trip along for Sunday lunch and you may be pleasantly surprised.
Consisting of a lounge bar, restaurant, private dining room and roof terrace, Oloroso occupies the top floor corner site on Edinburgh's bustling George Street and Castle Street. Due to its unique position, the large roof terrace provides stunning views across both the Firth of Forth and Edinburgh Castle.
And here's the clincher - for Sunday lunch you can dine on a two-course meal for 15 or a three-course for 19.95 including a glass of wine.
You get a choice of starters including calamari with fennel, roast beef salad, smoked salmon or wild mushroom veloute. Mains of roast leg of lamb, fillets of seabream, duck breast with a Thai vegetable broth and rice noodles or lasagne of aubergine and wild mushrooms. Finishing off with a selection of desserts from bread and butter pudding, to chocolate tourte, to cheese and biscuits.
