Silent film showing The Beatles on tour in Scotland goes under the hammer
A SILENT two-and-a-half-minute film of the Beatles is expected to fetch up to £12,000 when it is auctioned today.
The rare footage, shot in 1964 during the Fab Four's tour of Scotland, will be the most expensive lot going under the hammer in Midgham, Berkshire, at an auction of music and entertainment memorabilia held by Cameo Auctioneers.
The 8mm colour film features clips of the band and their entourage at the Four Seasons Hotel in St Fillans on the banks of Loch Earn.
They stayed for two nights in October to play a show in Dundee, having travelled from a gig in Edinburgh.
The band had just topped the charts with A Hard Day's Night, and I Feel Fine, which would become their second of four Christmas number ones, was to follow a few weeks later.
The film is thought to be unique as the only surviving footage of their stay at the venue.
It will be sold with copyright as part of an auction which will also see vinyl records, autographs and original artwork up for grabs.
