Sharleen Spiteri visits home for children with cancer

SHARLEEN Spiteri brought a smile to the faces of youngsters suffering from cancer when she visited them at the CLIC Villa in Edinburgh today.

The Texas singer, a patron of the CLIC Sargent charity, visited the home to help mark the 10th anniversary of its creation.

Ms Spiteri said: "As a mother, it means so much to me to be involved with CLIC Sargent and I have seen for myself the fantastic work they do for children with cancer and their families in Scotland.

"I cannot imagine how devastating it must be to be told your child has cancer, and this charity is a real lifeline."

The CLIC Villa provides accommodation for the families of young children who get cancer, giving them and their families a long-term base close to the specialist treatment unit at the Sick Kids Hospital.

Among the patients Ms Spiteri met was 12-year-old Greg Noble, pictured far right above, from Galashiels and his family, who said the Villa had been a godsend to them.
