Search on for test to predict child strokes
RESEARCH is under way to develop a blood test that could predict the chance of a child suffering a stroke.
Every year hundreds of children in the UK have a stroke, one of the top ten causes of death in childhood. It is often linked to another condition, such as a heart problem, but up to half occur in apparently healthy children. About one in ten with sickle-cell disease will suffer a stroke before age 20.
