Screening bid to cut 'silent killer'
A TOP Edinburgh surgeon is helping to create a new health screening programme.
The system will identify patients at risk from abdominal aortic aneurysms, or bulges in the body's largest blood vessel.
Rod Chalmers, of Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, said: "Aortic aneurysms are known as 'the silent killer'. They often show no symptoms until they burst."
