Scottish students 'have fewer worries about debt'
SCOTTISH students have fewer worries about accumulating debt but are more worried than their counterparts in other parts of the UK about finding a job when they graduate.
An annual survey revealed Scots expect to graduate with fewer debts - possibly because don't have to pay tuition fees.
The Association of Investment Companies found they were also more likely to live at home in order to save money
Only 7 per cent of Scots students predict they will graduate with debts of more than 20,000, compared with 34 per cent across the UK.
The Scottish Government said: "Today's figures once again show that Scotland's graduates are leaving university burdened with far less debt that their counterparts elsewhere in the UK.
"That is why we scrapped the graduate endowment and the reason why we have ruled out a return to tuition fees, a decision that has received the backing of both NUS Scotland and the Scottish Parliament."
