Zoo gets pandas in mood

KEEPERS looking after pandas Yang Guang and Tian Tian at Edinburgh Zoo are trying to boost their libidos with special lighting and a regime of strengthening exercises, it is reported.

Male panda Yang Guang is being encouraged to climb and to stand on his hind legs to strengthen his leg and back muscles, to improve his strength for the all-important – but brief – mating season.

Tian Tian is receiving daily hormone tests to find out when she comes into season.

Special lamps have been installed to mimic dawn and dusk in China, as the breeding season is thought to be triggered by light levels.
